Steam Railway
The scenery is breathtaking, along the spectacular English Riviera Geopark coast line to the picturesque station at Churston then on through the wooded slopes of Long Wood bordering the Dart Estuary to Kingswear. From Dolphins to Seals, Kingfishers to Buzzards, Herons and Egrets, the wildlife is superb. With such a varied range of scenery and wildlife, this is one of the finest heritage railway journeys anywhere in Europe.  A short foot passenger ferry takes you across the River Dart to the historic town of Dartmouth; home to the Britannia Royal Naval College, Bayards Cove, Butterwalk and Dartmouth Castle (England’s first Castle to have guns as its main armament). Dartmouth is where you board the boats for combined river excursions, see below.

Steam & Cruise
Full day excursion. Steam & Cruise is the perfect day out if you have children as it has ultimate flexibility – you decide what train and cruise to go on! Travel on the steam railway from Paignton to Kingswear then cross the River Dart on our foot passenger ferry to Dartmouth, where you board one of our boats for a circular 1-hour Harbour Cruise around the river and estuary. The Harbour Cruise takes you to the mouth of the river passing Kingswear & Dartmouth Castles, Dittisham village, Britannia Royal Naval College and Greenway House. On your return to Dartmouth there’s plenty of time to look around, go shopping and have some lunch before going back to Kingswear for your return steam train ride to Paignton.

The Sea Train Adventure
Full day excursion. Torquay to Dartmouth by boat and return by steam train to Paignton and bus to Torquay. We will set sail for the picturesque and historic port of Dartmouth and you can relax and enjoy the stunning scenery of the English Riviera Geopark and South Devon Coastline to Dartmouth. Return on foot passenger ferry from Dartmouth to Kingswear then any steam train service from Kingswear to Paignton, bus from Paignton to Torquay on Stagecoach ‘No12’ service departing every 15 minutes from Paignton bus station.
